 I am trying to have my parents here in states for my graduation. If you all know wht documents we need to prepare for the interview and let me know, I would really appreciate it.. thank you in advance hai sathi harulai.. ani bada dashain ra deepawali ko hardik mangal maye subhakamana.. agrim badai..

All I needed was a invitation letter from the University in a University letter pad.

Well, I had a letter from my graduate advisor after International office refused to write any supporting letters. Along with that i had a graduation invitation Slip which stated that i was graduating on mentioned date.
I am not sure but i may also have added a copy of my I-20.

That was all i sent.

hey.. thanks guys.. but what do we need from nepal.. i sent those letters already. now its they who are confused on wht documents they need to prepare.. u know like.. bank balance, etc.etc. Do u guys remember wht n how did they prepare for interview??thanks

correct me if i am wrong. i beleive they fall in vistor visa category. As far as i know they need preety much everything like bank balance, income source, property evaluation , police report, relationship verification so and so. they should be able to prove that they will return for sure. so advise them to make everything that supports them. hope this help ................

Following are document they would need;

1. Reason for visiting USA (your Graduation Invitation  & Letter from University or an International Office)

2. Ticket Booking (Itenary) - dont worry booking doesn't cost money.

3. Income Source: Bank Balance, Their Income Sources (Salary, Investments, Land/Home Rent Income, etc)

4. Property Evaluation by Auditor (Civil Engg. or Architect Consultancy)

5. Intent of Return back to Nepal:

This one is tricky, they should prove their intent of return;

- one way, JOB LEAVE APPROVAL if they (or one of them) are working in any office

- second way, enough property over Nepal which they wouldn't leave it forever

- third way, any other child (for which they need birth certificate of your sibling)

6. Relationship certificate (how your parents are related to you, sounds silly but its required)

7. No Criminal Records (from Nepal Police)

8. Where would they stay; Their Hotel booking or if you have enough space in appartment then your residence CONTRACT along with your residence registration (XEROX)

Above are basic stuff they need to take care before applying for TRAVEL VISA !

Tell your parents to walk in embassy with just
Invitation Letter
Your letter mentioning your address.

passport.
Send the copy of I-20 too, this is not necessary, but there are few incidents of not showing the SEVIS record of the students despite of having the legal status.
I told my parents to walk in to the embassy with just these three things, they did and got the visa. more document needs more justification.


you don't need any other documents, no bank balance, no property evaluation, no criminal record  these are all bull

thanks guys.. khas ta sabai counsellor kai haat ma parcha.. back up ko lagi bhaye pani documents ta banaunai parla jasto lagyo .. aru haru ko pani kehi experience cha bhane lekhe huncha.. reference ko lagi bhaye pani  kaam lagcha..

For calling parents, you just need a calling card.
For inviting them here to the US, that's another matter.
