A letter to my friend in Nepal who wants to go to “Andolan” but, really doesn’t know why he’s going for.

HellO friend....... I can understand ur sentiment BUT I personally do NOT hate monarchy.. I believe there should be a constitutional monarchy and WE DO NEED A KING. Even though I hate King Gyanendra and his descendent Paras, I believe NEPAL DOES NEED A KING.... I mean I do Not Like this "raja" But I do want "Rajsanstha In Nepal"... So the monarch should not be ousted but the power should be controlled or paralyzed or lets say neutralized.
We are the only Hindu KINGDOM in the world. We regard king as god and that's where all our uniqueness lies... That’s what we are proud about.. We are diverse and "Rajasanstha" stands there as a common umbrella for our diversity and culture.. No matter what race we’re from we respect "rajsanstha" and bow our head in front of it. Had King gyanendra not been in Power and a nice guy like Birendra was out there than we would have thought the other way. Hope u understand me. So what I believe is that king should have no power and hence he ought to DO NO MISTAKES and he's to stand there NOT as a political figure BUT as a cultural aspect to add a religious and historical touch to our rich CULTURE.....Can we imagine a gaijatra without a king . Well I don’t know about u but I can’t. I can’t imagine Dashin without Kings message to the nation and Shivaratri without the king visiting Pashupatinath. I can’t imagine Buddha jayanti without king’s message. I can’t imagine my Himalayan Kingdom with just Himalayan Dom. To recognize Nepal as a sovereign, peace loving, independent, culturally rich, diverse and yet a united nation; we do need a neutral King.
And To whom is the “andolan” for... Is it for those political assholes like xxxxx and stuff who ruined my country... Who sold the water to India and exchanged the banks of My Holy Bagmati for black money.. Is it for those assholes who sold my trees, my animals, my herbs and my pride? And made my mother, my nation cry.. Is this bloody “andolan” again for those assholes to rise into power and ruin my country further. No... We need to "NEUTRALIZE THE MONARCH" and search for a new leader ship who'd lead the country to a new phase of progress... This potential manpower should come from u guys, NOT from those political assholes....
So I believe in a CONSTITUIONAL MONARCHY WITH A NEUTRAL KING AND WAHTEVER FORM OF DEMOCRACY. I’m not a political analyst and all to give an appropriate term but I jotted down whatever was flowing inside me.
The guys fighting out in the streets are not fighting for u... They don’t know whom they are fighting for. They are fighting because they have nothing else to do as they are struck by unemployment. When the matter of gaining power comes, the same old political assholes are getting the power and they are going to repeat those same bloody shit again that they did a couple of years ago.. Whoever goes out in the streets are foolish.. They are fighting for political assholes... U should fight for yourself .. Not for Political parties.. Tell that u want a NEUTRAL KING AND A NEW LEADERSHIP.. Not those asshole again.. And well with this “andolan” fuelled by those dirty Politicians, the price in Katmandu is skyrocketing.. Mother is forced to buy salt at Rs.100 per kg because her son is obstructing the roads by burning tires from where the supplies would come.. And it's not affecting the King... He has enough access for the salt and it doesn't affect those dirty asshole politicians either who have already earned enough black money to buy salt at Rs.100 per kg. So it’s only those helpless Nepalese without any access who have to feed on rotten curry without salt tonight.

I did not read the whole thing but just 1 question, why do people still think Nepal needs a king or Rajsanstha (whatever that may mean)
Kasaiko chatrachaya ma nai basnu parne ho ra hamiharu?
Do we always need a person, who can do anything at any time and and have no "jawabdehita" to anyone ; (and still gets access to tax payers' money?

Do you know how much it cost to have a raja and his chamchas? I don't see a reason to justify Gyane and his bhautas...

I'd suggest u to read the whole thing first.
Well... if king is neutralized than the act which prohibits the general people to speak against the Royal Family and Royal Income could me changed, allowing the people to speak against Royal Income in the court. Then the court could decide how much money to give to the king according to his requirements. Remember, maintaining Pahupatinath and rennovating Hanuman Dhoka also costs money. With this money, we would be able to feed all the beggars out there.. This doesn't mean that we go destroy every aspect of culture that requires money. Changes should be made for controlling overexpenditure. Compromise is required

I agree with u that compromise is required as far as expenditures go, everyone has limited resources even the rich countries. What i meant by my earlier comment was that i would not like my tax money to go to the institution who instead of giving me anything wants to take away my freedom (to express).
Monarchy (at least the shah dynasty) is not part of my culture anyway, the temples, religion are if they require money i would part with some money for them, but not for monarchy. That's all what i mean.

I appreciate replying to my comment. My bottom line is i would not accept even constitutional monarchy. I see no point why it is needed.

this is the smartest comment i have seen in sajha regarding current situation. i wish the people wake up and realize what the political parties are trying to do. in other words, the political parties seem to be using the ordinary people to get power.,.. they will do anyting to get power, lie, steal, riot..

We are literally in the stage of war , and you expect the price rise in the commodities.
And regards to King , I will just like to ask you the followings:
1) If you are born as a PURET (BAJE as a profession) Does that primarily makes you a self claimed BAJE without adequete knowledge of the subject?
2) Why King as a GOD ? Its a myth, grow up.... if KING was god then nepal would be a heaven as of today. And i dont see it turning HEAVEN ( Except the natural beauty)
3) AS YOU MENTIONED "The guys fighting out in the streets are not fighting for u... They don’t know whom they are fighting for. They are fighting because they have nothing else to do as they are struck by unemployment." Let me ask you my friend who was supposed to be taking care of unemployment? The government.... implies present king ... proves he is a total failure.!!!!!

So in one word, "KILL KING"
ARYAGHAT LE KE BHANCHHA?
GYANE PARAS LE BHANCHHA!!!

Tyai politicians harule aryaghat exchnage gardai thiye black money sanga.. The banks of Bagmati were bring sold after multiparty democracy was established.. And about unemployment.. The problem wasn't caused withing this 2 yrs.. It was rooted during the time of those assholes... And we can't expect someone to improve every aspect within 2 yrs that had been degrading since 14/15 yrs...well if you have gone to nepal recently than you may have seen the houses near the banks of bagmati has been NOW REMOVED and a road has been built within this 2 yrs...

HYPER BRO. NAAM BRO IS NOT SAYIN THAT NEPAL IS DA PROPERTY OF GYANE. HE IS SAYIN DAT IT SUDN'T B A PROPERTY OF ANYONE EXCEPT THE JANATA. N THE JANATA ARE NOW WORKING FOR THOSE ASSOLES LEADERS BY DEMONSTRATING IN THE ROADS, WITH THOSE ASSHOLES PAWNING THEM. IF THERE WAS BIRENDRA IN THE THROWN NOW, THESE THINGS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. DON'T YOU THINK THAT MAHENDRA WAS A SUCCESSFUL LEADER? MAHENDRA NEVER WORKED FOR HIMSELF, BUT WORKED FOR THE JANATA. WE NEED SUCH AN ALTRUISTIC LEADER WHO WOULDN'T THINK OF HIMSELF. NOT AN ASSHOLE WHO HAS MADE SO MANY MISTAKES IN THE PAST THAT FOLLOWING HIM NOW WOULD JUST MEAN WALKING IN THE PATH OF DESTRUCTION. WE JUST CAN'T TRUST WHAT THEY SAY. HAVENT' WE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THE PAST? THE ONLY ACTIVE VOICE WE HEARD FROM THEM WAS DURING THE ELECTIONS. BRIBERY WAS THEIR BIBLE. SELFISHNESS WAS THEIR GOD. THEY HAD MADE MANY PROMISES TO US. BUT ALL IN VAIN. DON'T THE JANATA REMEMBER THAT? THESE NETAS WERE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING BAD THAT HAD HAPPENED? WE NEED A LEADER WHO IS WILLING TO SERVE THE JANATA WHILE GAINING RESPECT FROM THE JANATA. A LEADER WHO IS WILLING TO LISTEN TO THE JANATA AND ACT ACCORDING TO THEM.

ACTUALLY SPEAKING AS NAAM BRO HAD SAID, NEPAL IS NOT REALLY READY FOR DEMOCRACY. THERE WILL BE NOTHING BUT CHAOS IF WE DON'T HAVE A LEADER. EVERYONE WILL BE RULING FOR THEMSELVES AND GUESS WHO IS GOING TO SHOW UP TO END THIS CHAOS IN THE NAME OF BROTHERHOOD... INDIAN MILITARY. SLOWLY BUT SURELY WE WILL BE LIKE TIBET. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WOULD BE THAT NEPAL WILL NO LONGER BE THERE. OR SHE WILL BE A SLAVE!

IT'S OUR OWN PROBLEM. AND WE SOULD BE THE ONE TO SOLVE IT.

JAI NEPAL.

Philamath .. About bieng a successful leader I dont know about that... the democracy of 2007 was overturned by MAHENDRA in 2017 and then after wards 2036 janamat sanghraha was ineffective due to mandale ghuspeth and darbariya policy, and then came finally 1990/2046 saal janatako sarbhabhaumsatta multi party democracy system was going well some flaws as early democracy has chaos confusion less conclusive, it was going in some direction in a way and came this gwaj GYANE chaotic again ,
nepal has faced trouble every 10 years
2007>>>>2017>>>>2036>>>>2046>>>>2058 till now so what we need as of this day is a constituent assembly!!! I support the fact that new generation should take place of those old ones , some educated ones need to come in frontline of poitics and thats the way it should be and I pray for that. But for now first thing first , no more SHAHA DYNASTY IN NEPAL NIRMOOL PARNU PARCHHA YASLAI .

I kinda glanced over the comments. Some/One of you have mentioned the people protesting on the streets have nothing better to do and that's why they are on the streets protesting. They are the ones who are putting their lives on the line for the future of the country and to free the general people from the Nepali Hitler who is disguised as Lord Bishnu. I wonder if you would sacrifice your life in a noble cause like this than be a eat/sleep/ drink ordinary person(s).
If the general people are united, Nepal will be able to stand up against any kind of democratic threat not only for now and but for the future too.
Hail to the protestors

The youth in the streets are fighting for opportunity to live a dignified life. They are fighting for an opportunity to live freely and oppose suppressive forces. They are not fighting to replace the king with political leaders. It is the political leaders who also fail their aspiration. So do not confuse the aspiration of the people with the performance of inept leaders. But it is going to be different this time. Those who fail them will also be held accountable. More Nepalese have become aware of what democracy is and wish to life freely and get opportunity to better themseves. That is a basic human need. From this youth, new leadership will emerge that will benefit Nepal. If you think we cannot live or imagine life without monarchy, it is your weakness and failure to foster bold vision. And you make it pretty apparent by the tirade you express against the democratic aspiration and treat the youth in the street as being clueless and misguided. It is not people's fault when the leaders cheat them. But these so called leaders cannot fool the people all the time. There is a need to check these corrupt leaders in the coming democratic system, but there is NO PLACE FOR MONARCHY.

And there is no pride in being the only Hindu country if that means perpetuating inequality and caste division. It is time to be proud or being a truly democratic country with constitutional guarantee of full civil liberties and human rights. India is the original Hindusthan, and they are far more diverse than Nepal, yet they have been able to manage democratically, so why not Nepal? By its very nature, monarchy in Nepal cannot be neutral--history proves it. By the very human nature a king cannot be someone "who do no mistake". It is human nature to make mistakes. The alure of power and wealth is too strong. It has not stopped monarchy from cheatng Nepalese people or disregard the lives lost in struggle for freedom. So the bottom line is:
Any vestige of monarchy in Nepal is cheating Nepalese people all over again.

, so the point is (if i understand it) - let's have a constitutional monarchy but not an all-powerful king.

we had the latter. then we tried the former. guess where we ended up? that's right the latter. it is not possible in the current context to have a constitutional monarchy with the guarantee that it will turn into something we don't want. i thought we'd learnt that by now.

Sorry I couldnot help myself doing this. I read most of the comments above and respect all the opinions but i certainly do have my own belief about the King. Nepal Does need king no more.I wanna tell you a fact here regarding our king. You may make an opinion after reading it.

How much money does Nepali king earn?

Dear Nepali citizens and foreign lovers of Nepal,
You might be wondering why Nepal is still poor when its countries of
equal economic status has reached the sky with booming economic
development.
Let me try to answer ?this is one of the reason, I have recently found.

Nepal is one of the poorest counries of the world but Nepal's king is
the highest paid king of the world.

The income of Nepali king Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev is :
2,426 times higher than that of Chinese president
318 times higher than that of Indian president
301 times higher than that of Pakistani president
173 times higher than that of Russian president
57 times higher than that of French president
15 times higher than that of British president
10 times higher than that of American president

Netherlands queen's income : Rs. 22,32,00,000 (per capita income Rs 17,25,120 )
American president earns Rs. 3,24,00,000 (1,15,20,000 returns in tax),
(per capita income Rs 25,24,320)
Japanese king earns Rs. 22,23,52,000 (per capita income Rs.24,15,600)
Chinese president earns Rs. 1,35,000 (per capita income Rs 67,680)
Indian president earns Rs. 10,11,000 (per capita income Rs 34,560)
French president earns Rs 57,96,000 (per capita income Rs 15,84,000)
Pakistani president earns (after the coup) Rs 10,94,000 (per capita
income 29,520)
British Queen does not get any salary from the state. She has a
property of Rs 30,24,00,00,000 (the profit of investiment, after
paying the tax, is hers) but even her neckless is the property of the
country.
British prime minister earns Rs 2,19,58,000 (per capita income is Rs 18,16,200)
Russian president earns Rs 19,03,000 (per capita income is Rs 1,54,000)
Belgean king receives salary as a civil servant (per capita income is
Rs 16,74,000)
And,
Nepali king earns Rs 61,91,00,000 (per capita income is Rs 16,560=US$ 230)
[This means the Nepali king earns Rs. 19,878 times higher than a
citizen. Last year it was 37,385 times higher. Thus a citizen can earn
as much as the king earns in a year only after working for 19,000
years or in 316 lives. Ho la!]

Appendix
Nepali royal family is involved in various business.
A king does not have to pay tax according to Nepal's constitution.
The present king has inherited the property of earlier king's family
and nobody knows how much it is.
This king has taken Rs 1,06,45,00,000 in past three years for his small family

Courtsey: Mulyankan Monthly (Nov-Dec 2005)
US dollar 1 = Rs 72
Nepal has a writing system of giving comma after two digits except the last.

REQUEST
PEASE PRINT THIS AND PASTE IT ON THE NOTICE BOARD OF YOUR OFFICE. THIS
WILL GIVE ANSWER TO THE QUEST WHY NEPAL IS ALWAYS SO POOR. PLEASE
CIRCULATE THIS PAGE TO YOUR FRIEND ?YOU WILL NOT GET ANY FORTUNE BUT
WILL CERTAINLY OPEN THEIR EYES.

Thanks,
Nepali Janata
