Hi

My kid is born in US, but we both (parents) are Nepalese. Based upon our nationality, will our kid get Nepalese citizenship once she reaches age of 16 ?

What are the terms and conditions for it ?

Any information will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Actually this is good question . I don’t know , but would think they should right , if they don’t want to take us citizenship .

Also what happens , if you decided you won’t want to take US passport for them, when they are minor , can Nepal embassy issue possport for then? Can they travel to Nepal as kid of Nepalese citizen , even though ther were born in USA, and stay in Nepal for ever , without dealing with visa issue.

No, your child is an American as the birth was registered in the hospital when she was born. Getting visa wont be a big hassle. Get a NRN card. What benefits do you see for your child to get a Nepalese passport, i am curious?
If when Nepal amends the law with dual citizenship, we may get to hold multi country documents. As of now, its not possible.

But why. Kids can born any where . What if they are born in country which doesn’t give birth right citizenship. Just because in US they can take passport doesn’t mean that they have to take it. What if kids are born in Qatar , will nepal embassy issue passport for them to travel back home . In US if parents are student, they have kid but they want to return permanently to Nepal, what happens to those kids. Won’t nepal issue travel document or passport for them , just because they are born in US. Nepal’s citizenship law has nothing to do with place of birth as far I know. Kids of Nepali citizens have full right to nepali citizenship , as long as they don’t take from other country, which probably they can only decide when they reach 18. In these case I think Nepal should totally issue travel document of passport for those kids. And they shouldn’t be renewing visa , if they want to stay in Nepal till they reach 18.

But also Nepal law’s and regulation who knows, who knows how they interpret.

Yea ... OP is asking quote “My kid is born in US, but we both (parents) are Nepalese. Based upon our nationality, will our kid get Nepalese citizenship once she reaches age of 16? “ . Other thing are just context but related and something I was curious about.

I don’t know answer to OP’s question . Do you or anyone here know for sure, if they can or not? And additional question from my side to anyone who knows answer for sure  is “ Can kids of Nepali citizen born in US get travel document or passport from Nepal govt? Can they live in Nepal with out visa , if their parents decided to move back to Nepal, because they are Nepali citizen ? And just because kids are born in US doesn't mean that have to take US passport."

Short answer is yes. Of the three of four paths to Nepalese citizenship, this would qualify under the "citizenship by descent" (bansa) category when the child reaches eligible age.
