sathi haru ho,

I am gonna get associate on this fall 2011. Was planning to transfer to the university on springg 2011 but "Avagi" bhanchan ni the university I am planning to transfer doesn't give scholarship on spring. So i have to be on OPT and wait till fall to go over there. But what i am planning to do is break the OPT on April 2012 and apply for the university and go Nepal on JUne 2012 taking the I-20 of the university. But few people say that it will b problem on immigration while returning back if we have been on OPT after doing associate. Is that true? I am in such a dillema. Have anybody here gone to Nepal after being on OPT by doing associate? Personal Experience will be more appreciated. Thanks in advance.

sathi if u r in opt then nepal najada huncha. specially if chicago timro board of entry vayo vanay USA chirna ati nai garo huncha. mero apni same problem cha. i have not been to nepal since i got here. rignt now i am staying in opt and i did tried to go to nepal but my advisor said i will have probelm when i get back and college cant help you in such condition. i am not sure if you will have a problem or not if u apply for new degree in community college because i did try to use that option too but still my advisor said i might have problem when i come back because i already have one associates degree. only possible way i see is to have I-20 from university. According to my advisor, the reason they wont allow you to come back is because u have already earned a degree and your visa wont be longer enought to complete a new degree. Its a 50/50 chance. if u r lucky then you wont have any problem . One of the incident that occured with one of my friend. on august 2011,( the time i was trying to go nepal) my gf's best friend went to nepal for a month after finishing her semester. she has not finished her associates degree yet and when she came back, the board of entry stoped her and asked her why she took so long to finish an associates degree even though its been 3 years she was in US. They told her she is not a good student and they send her back. that was not the only problem but she became a candidate for interrogation. Due to her delay in study she was taken for questions and answers. they asked her question in such a way that she was scared and told them she baby sits for pocket money and she was deported right away. Now days the security is too tight. they just need a reason for interrogation and if u fall in interrogation then its really hard to come out of it.( thats what most people say).
As i said " ma pani opt ma chu and i would have only a year visa left after apply for university so i dont know if i will face problem at that time since i have only a year visa left.
over all the answer for problem is its not safe at all to leave USA if u r in Opt. (period)
jai nepal

You can visit Nepal after OPT from associate. My roomate went to Nepal after OPT from associate.
It was two years ago tho and he attended the university for one semester before he went to Nepal.
Just something you may wanna know, some university wont issue you travel I-20 before actually attending a semester in that university.
and about no scholarships during spring, you may wanna go to the university and inquire the scholarship deaprtment directly. coz I was told the same thing by friends, later I got scholarship in spring .

Smaran, i just came from Nepal during the end of August after staying in OPT for one year which i got after my AA Degree. As soon as my OPT was over i got admitted to uni and took I20 from there and just came back last month, i don't think that should be a problem.
