This is state-sponsored anarchy at its worst: UML leader Nepal (nepalnews exclusive) Commenting over Thursday’s arrest of dozens of political leaders and rights activists in Kathmandu, CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has said, “This is the state-sponsored anarchy at its worst form.” CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal (File Photo) Talking to nepalnews while under house arrest in Kathmandu Thursday morning, Nepal—one of the senior leaders of the seven party opposition alliance--said, “This is an example of severe attack against fundamental rights of the people.” “This is also a proof that the royal government is breathing its last,” he added. “This government has been isolated and has lost support from everywhere. The latest autocratic move of the government is nothing but an indication of the defeated mentality of the royal regime,” he said. He also brushed off the government’s claims that seven political parties’ protest rally and mass meeting was likely to turn violent on Friday. “We are committed to organize peaceful protests despite unprecedented suppression by the regime,” he added. He claimed that their valley-wide program slated for Friday would be a grand success. “If the leaders are arrested, common people will take the movement forward,” he said. UML leader Nepal also informed that security personnel cross over the compound wall of his house to enter into his residence early in the morning. “Security personnel were here at around 4: 00 in the morning. They raided my residence at around 6:30 am. They were asking about our party leader Bamdev Gautam,” he told us. nepalnews.com kk Jan 19 06

You know as cold and brutal as it may sound, I would be least affected if the bodies of some of the arrested are found in the jungle. They would have dug their won grave if that was to happen. They have a lot to do with the situation we are in today. These opportunist bastards do not deserve to serve us again. Why do these corrupt politicians and Maoists not understand that the more violent and more protest prone they become, stronger the King becomes? If Maoists go on destroying every little infrastructure Nepal has, killing only the poor innocent people, King’s position gets more and more legitimate just like the reason to import more weapons. They need to understand that, Nepalese people are fed up with violence and useless self-destructive demonstrations and protests. The more they carry on, the more they lose support. Right now anyone who can provide a sense of security to Nepalese has the favor. So why do the Maoists and the politicians not opt for peaceful means of voicing their agendas for a while, and once a little bit of security is installed in the Nepalese lives, they could then change course and start educating the mass why democracy is the best institution in today’s world?

I agree that these bastards are corrupted and opportunistic. But they were going to do peaceful protests, and how do u justify the arrest of human right activists and disruption of telephone services? How do you justify the murders of innocent girls by RNAs? How do u justify terming the murders in nepal as suicides n' the culprits never brought to justice? Read story on Nepal magazine n' the police personnel killed in singhadurbar, nagarkot massacre n' etc.

Of course it doesn't solve the problem by arresting some leaders but prajatantra ji you need to see the reality there. What happen if Moist blast bombs on that big rally..what happen some of your corrupted leaders died on that blast. Moist can do any thing and 7 parties did big mistake by joining with them. Just imagine what happen if Parchanda is your president in Nepal. Do you think he can allow any public gathering? Look at the North Korea. King did good job and if 7 parties and king can solve the crises it will be good for our country. If there is no king there will be no Nepal tomorrow. Think twice guys!

"...what happen some of your corrupted leaders died on that blast..." hahahaha, now i understand the rationale behind the ban on public gathering, mass arrest of leaders and a day-long curfew. "North Korea" hmm, i wonder sometimes if we are actually BECOMING a North Korea because we are afraid of it...

gwajyo, I think this is the only good thing King G did. Throwing this morons to jail. Let them feel how hell is. But still these morons will not learn their lesson. Let the new leadrship breed. Let me also clear something. I aint got anything to do with royal family or polticians. I also think majority of the people do not benefit any from these groups. But I feel helpless to say that I do not see anybody who is able to bring us "democracy". If K G bows down to the party and hands over the power to party also, democracy will not be realized. Bickering will continue. Internal conflict will continue. Forget about elections and democratic process. So let these morons quit or flee. New leaders will rise someday from the masses. But what happened was prety predictable. Parties will lose any legitimacy they had cause these morons went and comprimised with terrorists. You do not play a double game. I feel sad to say but this will just escalate. I do not see current leaderships capable of democracy. K G is ruthless to feel sorry. In the middle is freaking Nepalese who will be creamed from all sides. Demonstrations peacefull. My as@. Breaking traffic lights, burning vehiles, forced closure thats what you call peaceful. Throwing away these leaders to jail. This is the only good news after a long time. Let them feel how does it feel. Let them feel the fear. peace out

High fly if u fliy higher u will c some nepal has advance technologies tht us dont have . Though the living standard is quite low comparing with us, I dont agree with ur logic regarding technology. Just one example: I have seen multi billion dollar company is using a software which is older than I used 3 ys ago in Nepal ( in my PC - dont say pirated!)
