Unprecedented threat to Nepal Sovereignty TGW Revolution for what? Killing of several thousands of people in the name of the so-called people’s war to serve what purpose? These are some of the Himalayan questions that Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal must answer or he is answerable to these pressing questions. Neither he can escape nor can he shift the blame onto the heads of the others as is his habit. Analysts claim that Prachanda’s revolution was just a pseudo one. They further add that the entire Maoist paraphernalia in the name of the people’s war served in an oblique manner the special place, by extension the country, where the top-notch of the leadership resided in a secret manner for well over eight plus years. Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government has agitated and to some extent excited the tender brains of the nationalists, if any left in the crowd of the many, by “secretly” allowing the Indian Intelligence Agency to erect henceforth a check-post at the Kathmandu’s International Airport. Shame on us all that this news has come to us through the kind courtesy of one Indian daily, the Panjab Keshari dated January 17, 2009. The Indian news paper authenticates its grand revelation by quoting Nepal’s minister for Supplies, Rajendra Mahato who is perhaps now in Delhi for reasons unknown to us. The paper writes quoting Minister Mahato as saying, “The Nepal government has decided to allow the presence of the Indian security forces at the TIA for the security of those passengers who travel by Indian airliners”. Minister Mahato is one of the leaders of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party who is concurrently looking after the ministry of Supplies and Commerce. The paper further quotes the Nepali minister and says, “This directive has been issued by the Nepal government right this week”. Understandably, Nepal’s revolutionary Prime Minister is paying the debt for his “care” taken by the Indian establishment while in the so called hibernation during the people’s war. Now that the government has already allowed the Indian establishment to create a post at the TIA, what if the China, Pakistan, Quatar, Ettihad, Thai, Biman, and other similar airliners that land in Kathmandu demand similar facilities from the Nepal government? Will the revolutionary government extend its similar support to those airline companies? Nepal has been cheated. Nepal has been deceived. Nepal is the loser. Nepal’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty has been exposed to an unprecedented threat. Will the nationalist camp inside the Maoists party take up the case strongly? We doubt! It is time that the nationalists of this country commit suicide so that the greater evils that are yet to take shape may not disturb their peaceful brains any more. Nevertheless, analysts prefer to allow the government some time to clarify its stance over the issue that has been raised here. With strong inputs from Ghatana Ra Bichar dated January 21, 2009.

Current kathmandu is great example if there is vaccum of politics and politician. Its like garbage, if you dont have people to clean it up it will stink the whole community. Politics is a dirty game, but we always need some player to play it. This is limit for shame for revolutinory leadres to sell country like that. They are exchanging favors like its thre personal business. We have had Grijas' and Ma-Ku-Nes' but i haven't seen any indian police authoriting nepalese in nepal. We are surely next Bhutan, whose foreign, financial and defense are looked upon by Indains. Not only my grandparents or parents generation, even we all will die just watching andolan's, banda, foreign interventions, loosing sovereignty of our country day by day if it exists in near future.

Nepal and nepalese has become the helpless goat on both sides. We has lost ourselves from our morality when we let people die in the name of revolution. We lost ourselves from our duty when we said let it happen and live the way as it happens. We have lost from outside as we create the failed state everytime we expect new change. We were not fighting for ourselves and our nationality but trying to satisfy our ego through blaming others for what we is happening wrong. We have forgot that we were all first nepalese and we need to work hard to make our country better but every time we get threat we hide and let other fight for us first. Lets just hope there will be no killing in our country any more. Lets just hope no brother dare to kill another brother and sisters for some ideology. Lets pray if we cannot do that all nepalese are safe backhome. Lets us die for motherland not some treators. Let us not make the small issue big but keep solving the problem with right solution as we are all humans and everyone of us tend to make misakes.

But that could be because of Indian Airlines hijack few yearsback. When i was travelling to US through Amsterdam and germany, there were US security checking all the passengers coming to US, why can't India do ther same? The country does have threats from its neighbors and since the security situation of Nepal itself is not trustworthy, they decided to check by themselves. I do not see anything wrong with this approach. Our politicians are useless, that is agreed, but this approach could be entirely for security reasons.

Dear Dipesh Limbuji,
The accusation that Minister Hisila Yami is deploying Indian Army inside Kathmandu's International Airport is absolutely false and ridiculous. After the Kandahar airplane hijack incident, in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Orgnaisation, Indian Airlines officials were given secondary checking provision. These rights are reciprocal rights which means Nepal can also exercise secondary checking in Indian airport.

Having trained indian airline employees checking the baggage for security reasons would be acceptable but is it acceptable to have indian police/army officers checking passengers at KTM airport? That's where the line need to be drawn. And as Slackdemic pointed back to baburam's answer, notice the sentence " These rights are reciprocal rights which means Nepal can also exercise secondary checking in Indian airport." the question here is did baburam/hisila also declared that nepali airline employees/police/army will do the checking at indian airport ? or do they have guts to even answer back to india with "rights to reciprocal" need to be excercised ?

I don't think this is a big deal if Indian authority is limited to the flights departing to India. US has the same deal in Canada and many other countries. You would not surprised by Australian authorities greeting you in Bangkok while taking flights to downunder. We should work with India to improve the overall security of the region and not indulge in misguided patriotism... My NRS 0.02.

And because we share an open border to India, they definitely have threats. It is better that they check the entry checkpoints to India with care so that Nepal will not later be blamed for any terrorist activities in India.

i agree, i think it is always morally wrong to have another policing system in someone else country. It means "i dont trust your pathetic system, so i need mine system over here too"(may be i m becoming extremist). But even if united states does tht in many country, it doesnt make it right.I think we should raise this issue in constructive way, its wrong, and its morally wrong.

I am for Democracy and I believe that democratic nations have made great progress in every aspect. Having said that I also believe that NEPAL is very premature to be democratic country. It's like giving a monkey a LOADED gun, not even having the skills of monkeys that are trained in a circus.Communism is not going to work for a country like NEPAL. Communism will work but at a price. IS NEPAL THE NEXT NORTH KOREA??? So, ARE WE READY TO EMBRACE ANOTHER DEAR LEADER??? NORTH KOREA at least boasts of Nuclear arsenal at it's disposal, what does NEPAL offer???Nepal is shrinking in size as both India and China are at tug of war as to how deep it can penetrate inside Nepal. If we listen or veiw the news Indians are becoming bolder and bolder. They are moving right inside the Nepalese territory, planting Indian flags and pissing on it as if to say, DO YA' DARE??? So, the question is what is next???
