I have H1 and I am currently working in a contract job. I don't have H1B visa stamped in my passport, as I changed my status from F1 to H1. I am wondering what are the steps and documents required to process for bringing my wife to US. Some sites mentioned that i need to send photo copy of passport with H1b visa stamped. I am wondering do I have to get visa stamped if I am applying from here. Has anyone brought their wife in H4 like this way, or know the process, your help is appreciated.

.nabubabu.

1. Send your H1 B approval sheet (I-797, I guess, not sure abt the number).
2. Send a letter from you employer that says you work with them and you earn this much per annum.
3. Send a copy of your bank statement.

I don't think they will ask for your passport. But still you can send a copy of your passport and your visa (F1, as you don't have H1 B stamped).

Ask your wife to get the marriage certificate, if you don't have already.

While applying for visa in Nabil Bank at Maharaj gunj, they will ask for a copy of H1 B approval sheet and a copy of her passport. There are forms available on the front door in Nabil Bank. She will have to fill up the form along with a 2 x 2 passport photo.

In interview, all they want to see is if you are married with your wife or not. So better take some pictures of Marriage and the marriage certificate and she is all set. Also make sure she takes all the documents you sent to her.

Explain her what kind of work you do and where is your office at. They do ask these kind of questions sometimes. She can also tell that she doesn't know about it but it's better if she knows about what you do and where you do ni, haina?

Getting H-4 visa is not that tough. It's the easiest one, I think.

If you need more information, shoot me an email. :-)

Best of Luck.

Thanks Camoflaged for the detailed info. My F1 visa is expired. Do i need to get H1B visa stamped from Mexico or Canada? Also my income after tax and consulting company commision, doesn't meet the minimum salary required and anyway was mentioned that amount to get H1. Finally how much bank balance should I have? Now I am worried about these issues. Furthermore, my wife has been rejected visa two times before: once for student visa as married and second in F2. Will all this issues affect while my wife face the interview? What should I do to bring her to US. Please give me suggestions.

Letter should be in company letterhead with your designation and salary. Copy of your pay stubs. If you have filed tax include that too. If you are not going back home no need to go Canada or Mexico to stamp. Just send the copy of H1 (I-94). Marriage certificate is must so on pictures of the wedding. And rest what "CaMoFLaGeD" have mentioned. No need to worry about previouse issues. H4 visa is not that hard to get. Best of luck and check all the documents properly before you send.

nabubabu,

a quick reminder would be. if effective date of your H1-B is OCT-2007 then she cannot come before SEPT-16.

she cannot come to US before 15 days of your start date. [ as is the case with your h1-b approval]
