Over the past few months, there were heated arguments about the democratic movements. People like Nepe, Newuser, sardarsingh etc were very vocal regarding their support for the democratic movement.

I would like to know how they like the democratic government now? The government that is shiit scared of the Maoists. The Great Democratic Government of Nepal that can't even stop the Maoists from exploiting people everyday. The Maoists who are raising taxes parallel to the great democratic government. The Democratic Government doesn't even have the balls to be in charge. Instead they let out all the Maoists from prison.

A government needs to be in charge and this democratic government is far off from being in charge. A Democratic Government that stays MUTE when a respectable journalist is threatened by the Maoists for writing a true story. A democratic Govt that stays mute when there is a non government military force parading in the streets of Nepal forcing people to pay them taxes.

Everyday things are deteriorating and it's going to get even worse because the Maoists are becoming more powerful everyday now that they have sidelined the king.

Before you start getting ants crawling up your leg and jump in joy to call me a royalist, don't even go there. I never support autocrat king. but I support the democratic choice of choosing the better of worse options. As always, the mass murdering/exploiting maoists should never be anyone's choice.

It looks like nepali politics is moving towards being held captive and governed by Maoists. So whatever happened to the goddamned democratic government that you all were so fanatic about?

The success of this government, in my opinion, will be measured in history by a few things :

(1) Being able to bring the Maoists into the mainstream

(2) Holding elections to CA

(3) Implementing a new constitution that creates a stable long-term political framework for Nepal

On all three counts, it is to early to tell proclaim victory or failure. However, inspite of the occasional grunts of the Maoists, it looks like things are headed in the right direction so far. Prachanda is talking to the government and wants to join it, not bring it down. That is progress, in my opinion, from two months ago where he and his party had no interest in joining either the government of that day or the mainstream.

While it is early to tell which way things will go, I feel we need to give credit where it is due and in this case the current goverment can be credited with starting the process of peace and reconciliation. I hope they complete what they have started.
