Anyone know how long it takes to receive a temporary passport after sending the MRP application to Nepalese Embassy in DC? I understand it can take about 6 months to get the MRP passport itself.

Yes, you have to apply for both MRP and temporary passport. They will send back the original old passport with the new temporary passport. Once the MRP passport is ready, send them the temporary passport to receive the MRP.
