Once again, please, this is about a little girl who could be your little sister's age or your daughter's age. Find it in your heart, as I have done, to make her win just as much as I'd like my little sister or daughter to win.

Kalimpong, Feb. 3: Hundreds of residents here braved the winter chill to attend an open air concert organised at Motor Stand this evening to drum up support for Chhote Ustaad contestant Prakriti Giri. The euphoria around young Prakriti from Darjeeling, who has entered the final rounds of the nationwide singing contest being aired on an entertainment channel, brought back memories of the mass hysteria surrounding Prashant Tamang, who eventually went on to bag the Indian Idol crown last year. Various local artistes, including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Bangla) finalist Karma Sherpa, entertained the crowd for about two hours in the presence of Prakriti’s proud father Naresh Giri, who had driven down from Darjeeling for the concert. “I have come here with the hope that the people of Kalimpong will help our daughter reach her destination,” Giri told The Telegraph. Like other talent-hunt shows, the winner of Chhote Ustaad, too, will be decided largely by SMS voting. “SMS votes are crucial this time, especially since the vibes of the judges aren’t that great,” added Giri. Vision Kalimpong, which had organised the concert, had also played a leading role in the mass SMS voting for Prashant during the Indian Idol contest. Apart from the concert for Prakriti, Vision will help produce the music video of a Hindi song composed by the Peshok-based Sagar-Kiran duo in her support. In fact, the audio of the still untitled track was released during the concert.

PRAKRITI'S DREAM RUN COMES TO AN END

 

Prakriti Giri has been eliminated from Amul Star Voice of India-Chhote Ustaad, the musical reality show currently being aired on STAR Plus. 
It was hoped that this 12-year-old girl from Darjeeling would follow the footsteps of Indian Idol 3 winner Prashant Tamang as she continued her steady climb in the show, making it to the top five. But unlike Prashant, Prakriti failed to grab enough votes from the audience which would have saved her from the elimination round.

The elimination episode is yet to be telecast and will be aired this Friday. The episode was canned late last night.

Although liked by the judges, Prakriti faced tough opponents in the form of Aishwarya from Ahmedabad and Anvesha Dutta from Kolkata. In all the voting episodes, Prakriti managed to secure enough votes to stay in the race. She also made a record of sorts by securing the highest number of votes in all the episodes. However, last week, Aishwarya beat her to the top spot with the highest number of votes.

Last week, she sang “Salamey Ishq” from the film Mukadar ka Sikandar, which was not up to the judges’ liking. In comparison to the more talented and better trained singers like Aishwarya and Anvesha, Prakriti’s performance lacked technical finesse and voice quality. Even the judges remarked that she had to really work hard if she wanted to stay in the competition and match up with the other remaining four contestants.

One of the family members of Prakiti, who is presently in Mumbai said over the telephone that she was eliminated after coming in the scary land (danger zone). According to the rules of the show, the elimination is not solely based on the number of votes polled by the contestants. The judges also play a vital part in deciding who gets out. The vote sent by the viewers is taken into consideration to select the bottom three with the lowest number of votes. The three contestants in the danger zone are then asked by the judges to sing a song each according to their choice. The judges then decide who goes home based on the contestant’s singing in that particular round.

The news might have disheartened many Prakriti Giri Fan clubs all over the country, but there is sill one last chance for them to bring her back in the competition through wild card, which is recently being introduced in the contest.

According to this format, the eight eliminated contestants, including Prakriti, will be given a final chance to perform and based on the maximum votes polled, only one contestant out of the eight will get the wild card entry.

Darjeeling, 5 February: Frantic fans of Prakiti Giri gheraoed the Vodafone store and Airtel distributor office at Darjeeling. Prakit Giri’s fans used mostly these two phone systems for casting votes to Prakiti Giri during her last musical competition, Chote Ustaad but due to technical faults, votes were rejected. Vodafone and Airtel authorities have admitted and apologized for technical problems on their system during the last voting hours and assured for coming round of voting on Saturday and Sunday.

One song don't make Prakriti or any one a singer, but if you haven't seen any of her performances, see the one below - it is great.

Darn mad to hear that the phone lines didn't work in Darjeeling. But, to be very fair, she was weak in singing one of my all time Bollywood favorites, Salam-e-Ishq - not that I had seen other contestants sing.

Like you said Darj, hope she comes in again with the wild card thingy magik and do some more jadus.

Guys, i didn't understand the mystery. Is prakriti really out?

Yes I watched it Nepalitara fever ji, but I still wondered why is it done. It was, though, almost confirm that once prakriti comes in danger zone, she was likely to be out. I also realized that the lady dhotini judge was damn against her all the time. But, the main thing is that why her elimination was kept in suspence. Is there any way that she can be in the program besides the wild card. Anyway, having deep feelings of nepalipan, i have keen interest in such things. Don't mind  i know u dedicated a lot in prashant's winnings through sajha, but i didn't feel like using ur username from heart. I know u love the reality show, but besides that u are helping ur interest supporting others. Dude, keep posting prakritis information.
