He is joking in Jail !!! WTF , don't he know its going to be in his record forever and he is fked up !! Judge is referring him to hospital ? why ? Was he on drug when he was arrested ? Is he mentally OK??

Wow the online arrest record shows his status as "Incompetent". I guess he answered in a weird or delusional way upon questioning. That could be a reason he is referred to a hospital for evaluating his mental state. You didn't feel anything weird on his behavior when he was staying with u?

He's been jailed for over a month for such a petty misdemeanor. Maybe he got depressed or mentally ill. Why aren't his friends getting him out on bail???? This is so terrible!!!

First thing immediately take him out on bail.
Do not depend on public defender appoint your own lawyer. Pubic defender doesn't really care about case in detail and your friends future. They will try to do plea deal. "DONT DO THAT" although its a little fine. If your friend is a student in F1 visa it will hurt his future by CONVICTION.
Good defense lawyer can work outside the court and might dismiss the case as well.

I don't think you guys get the problem. He was given a evaluation and in the report it says he is doing poorly. So posting bail isn't the issue, it was never the issue, the fact that posting bail wasn't a option is the issue. I called the public defender and she says I can't post bail anymore. Since he came in he was given a evaluation and since then, he wasn't allowed to leave on bail. Right now, posting bail isn't a option and now just waiting for him "to go to hospital, get stabilized and when they think that he is stable he will get another hearing." That's the problem.

I have full sympathy for the victim yet before you send money or anything try to find out the reality. Why don't you call the police or hospital and find for yourself before you help?

What about helping those folks who had mental issues and called with a bomb threat from a greyhound bus? Or do they have to be college student?

I guess I know this guy. He was in my university Saginaw valley state University, Michigan and was in medical leave, so he went to Austin. Since then I never heard about this guy. Some were saying that he was deported to Nepal, and some were saying that he was in jail.
