Absolutely right article, right thought. Everyone is feeling same but question to everyone, every educated person who gets opportunity go to bureaucracy become corrupted. So, as it is mentioned in the article, there should be fight with the system, fight with the people who make the system, fight with our culture. So, there will be a big list, I don't know where to start, but one day either Nepali will become a prosperous Nation or Rwanda, Burundi. Seems we are already late.
Only thing what we can do is always appreciate and help them who are trying to make good system. The problem is all the educated looters who get chance are corrupted and uneducated wolves leaders, both are problem for the nation.

A few years ago, I read about four people who were MBA from top universities, but ended up selling dough nuts or running small convenient stores, because of market crash. I think running one's own business is a good way of living, better than working for others. He was probably not competitive enough to get a job through Lok Sewa, however.

Lol @ people of this thread Why are we actually scolding the politician for the current situation in Nepal. Just tell me one thing, how many of you didn't make any kind of fake document while coming to united states? How many of you didn't make fake bank document or fake property document for visa? how many of you or your relative didn't use bribery to have something done? If you or your family did, then yes you are equally as culprit as those filthy poltician because you helped them to take a bribe. I guess when we were kid, you must had heard the word" daya baya garera kaam chalaune". Yes corruption started right from that moment on you. Current nepal is not due to corrupt politician because we created those corrupt politician. Keep complaining!!! Peace!! I have seen worst than above case. When I was kid, i have seen a guy who tore his degree certificate in the middle of tarkari bazaar kalimati becuase he was so frustrated with system and couldn't find any job. I heard he is still working in tarkari bazaar.

To start the note of my mind transcending the ego defensiveness I do not happen to know the person who wrote the article or the person who is been interview in the article.
I brought the article in sajha to see if creative minds hear can recognize the gravity of contemporary nation Nepal and see if any out-side-the-box fella’s can share their practical opinions which can be implemented to intervene. The question is not the nature of problem(s) in Nepal; the question is to seek answers on how to practically implement the ideas, plans, designs whatsoever called in nation Nepal. The system for sure is the problem, you name it education, politics, business etc. Please share if you know how to go bring balance of ideas, problems, and implementation!!!
Pagal premi; very well said. Sajhities of most i find creative people along with many life dramas. The drama of NAS rules out many inventive solutions. Nothing personal with nasty NAS. As a matter of fact it's got all the spices a virtual world can have. It sure brings sadness that in a genuine concern as this article presents all the hero of sajha have gone numb.
Samiskshya: The drama queen, do plz seek your attention in other threads. Perhaps your ego will not find any appetites to feed in.
Timer: At least you are concern. Thank you bro. Hope there is answer beyond the catch 22 of system and psyche of Nepal.
Putala: It’s not about anything being new or old. Why the nature of mind only seeks sensations and not solutions!!!Sajhabus: I can’t answer for the guy interview nor can I make my ego defensive here. I don’t see the relevance. Let’s go beyond the figure pointing. Please brainstorm on how we can be innovative. Thanks for your time.
Pire: I agree with most of what you have presented. On the note “He was probably not competitive enough to get a job through Lok Sewa, however” this guy clearly had said that his was Nepal second and has high mark in first division. So, it make my mind wonder of what you present.
I Hate America: Any implantations skills that you please share. We can’t undo the past but for sure we can learn from it in present.
At last when it comes to ideas people bitch it up like anything, perhaps, it’s easy for the mind to do that. When it comes to implementation the mind goes on high fever possible migraine .

Lok Sewa tests different things, not merely what you studied in class. People have to ready themselves for different kind of exams after the university.
This is same in Maharajgunj MBBS exam. You can't say, "I was ISc board, how come I didn't get my name in the list?" The answer is the exams are different. When studying MA, he should also be preparing for Lok Sewa like many do. May be his classmates prepared hard on Lok Sewa too.
May be he was unfairly treated, but his implication that he should have automatically received a job after MA is wrong. Nepal is not a communist country, and we don't guarantee cradle to grave job .

I agree with Jwaai. Part of the problem might be the guy. Even, it doesn't mean someone who studied masters shouldn't do business but the nature of the business this guy is doing can be done someone who is illiterate. Even in USA, people with master's and PhD might not get job and have to work in convenient store. But it is pain either in Nepal and USA. In our system, education means to give license to corrupt the nation being bureaucrats and at the same time someone who didn't corrupt and can't do fraud, he is humiliated in the society. I have worked almost 7 years in Nepal, every honest person is humiliated and less is fighting for good things, majority is working to break the system and collect money. The majority is the people, who are educated, that is why I said educated looters or uneducated wolves leaders, both are problem.
So, for me answer is balance. Anyone who work hard and take education, he has right to live in a respectable manner. At the same time, someone who are not smart enough to get education or didn't get chance to get education, they have also right to live in respectable manner. So, it is part of coin. It doesn't mean they should be same, definitely, they won't be same, every hard working will pay for better life and that is a real life but I mean respectable life with human dignity. None of the government can guarentee anything, it is a person who struggles.
But the thing is being a nation, Nepal can't respect to educated people who has to work as footpath business. Nation can't respect to the poor people who didn't chance to get education. Nation is not a soil, rock and water. Nation is us, nation is our culture, nation is our leaders, nation is our society, and nation is you and me and every part of society. So, it is one of the most complex questions raised in Sajha.

Guys, I don't see why it is a problem that
(1) A man is doing his business rather than doing a Nokari.
Now if this journalist has reported that in his business, there are tons of business related problems, I would think there is a problem. But the journalist is implying that doing a business somehow is a demeaning thing. I have a few friends who used to sell khasa stuff 20 years ago, and now they are making more than what I make here, and in fact, one is investing his money in a factory near my home. It takes time to be rich, but he can use his analytical power to be successful in business.
(2) That he didn't get Lok Sewa job.
There are tons of problems in Nepal, but Lok Sewa is supposed to be fair and is probably as fair as it gets. So, if he had managed his time properly when studying MA, he could have prepared for Lok Sewa while studying MA. But he obviously didn't do so.
He erroneously assumed that he would automatically get a job if he is ranked among topper in the class. I don't know much about political science education in Nepal, but he should have known better about his prospect when he was in the department.
Since cream always rises to the top, if he is smart, he will do well in his business.
I have problem with this poster , however, because he thinks he is ashamed of being a Nepali because this man is selling stuff in footpath. I don't see why the poster should be ashamed of being a Nepali. I can feel bad that our employment situation is not as good as I hope it would be, but on the other hand, I am glad that there seems to be very few trade restrictions in starting small business in Nepal. Have you tried selling something in USA? Even to sell a pumpkin roadside, a man has to get a license from municipality and pay some money upfront.

After posting for many years, I have known some trends :
(1) If someone is weak in his/her argument, he/she will use words such as "hahaha" and use many emoticons.
Well, dude, I don't see what is so funny. I have made serious remark about the way you wrote the title. If you are shamed to call yourself Nepali after reading that a MA in pol sci from TU has started a small business, then you need to examine your head and ask your self whether you were ever proud of calling yourself Nepali.
(2)Now, I know that once someone's safe cocoon is burst, he/she is likely to throw tantrum, start saying "so many people support me" etc, rather than making any logical argument. In that situation, a safe strategy is to ignore the person, or abandon the thread, because you can never win any argument with such people. They have their set mind, their set ideas, their inflexible logic, and they are not entering the argument to compromise their set, fixed ideas.
So, Jwai, you can have your fun. And I can certainly laugh at your weakness. My suggestion: control your emotion next time you write these comments.
