People in Nepal are finally starting to feel the sense of security, hope of ending the war, breathe corruption free air and Nepalese in America are protesting this. I finally feel comfortable to send my kids to their school because there are security people around their school so that our kids can feel safer and concentrate on their studies with out any fear. Finally we have more working days and less Nepal bandh, lot less protest rallies unlike in the past when there used to be rallies every single day by some group against every government we have ever had. RNA is risking their lives and finally, starting to take controller over the towns and villages which moist previously had been dictating and killing everyone if they didn?t like their face. Nepalese people in Nepal finally getting back the hope they had lost, that some day we could be moist free, a safe country to live in.

People! These are good signs. This makes our country more democratic and you people are protesting against it. I live in Nepal and I am not as highly educated as most of you who live in America. It is a shame that you are protesting against the better things that are happening in my country. How could you be so ruthless? How could you be so blind? You all are living a better life there, why are you all trying to be smart a55. We are the one we have to put up with all the things. Why are you trying to take away our security, our happiness? If tomorrow with your effort Girija, or sher bahadur, or Madhav comes back to the power, our life is going back to the same ciaos again. They are not brave enough to go head to head with our nation?s enemy. They are not loyal enough to fulfill our dreams. Pease don?t get me wrong, I love democracy but I just don?t believe in our democratic leaders. I dream every day that someday we would be land of peace again. Please don?t shatter 22 million people?s dreams. If you can?t help please don?t hurt either.

very much agreed. Just got back from nepal after 3 months of stay in nepal. It is so much better than before. At least you don't have to fear for your life. You can live your normal life without all the bandhas. We can say anything and everything living outside of nepal. Though i'm antimonarchy i'm glad to see the people in nepal little bit relieved with the situation than in the past.

Coerced peace under the barrel of a gun, that too limited to Kathmandu Valley and other urban areas, is far from real and sustainable.

VERY well-stated, poonte! i too was going to comment on how even though people in kathmandu MAY feel a greater sense of security, i would imagine the situation for many people of the country has not changed. or, perhaps it has changed, but has it improved....?!

What is the source of your comment.. Poonte ji. Are you currently living in Nepal? Are you talking about those part of Nepal which are under control of Moist? Not sure where you get your news from but you certainly seems to be misinformed.

All these people who are super concerned with democracy and ending king's rule, have you ever thought what's going to happen if the king decides he's had it and steps down for good. Maybe let's say goes to some other country.

What do you think is going to happen in Nepal. Do you think your Democracy is suddenly going to come and everything will be sunny and nice? Ok, I know what you're going to say. You're going to say it's going to take time. Ok, how long? 20 years? 40 years? 100 years? Looking at our country's situation I don't believe that your ideal democracy is ever going to be established in Nepal.

As soon as the king steps down, there is going to be a power vaccuum that will create power struggle among the so called democracy loving politicians. We all know it's going to be a dog eat dog situation. Dogs/politicians fighting for the piece of meat/power.

You are all concerned about how King and his family are above the law and how they are taking advantage of their position. Do you think that as soon as your so called democracy comes there won't be any politicians that will take advantage their position? In fact instead of one family, there will be 50 different families who will be taking advantage of their new found power.

Your zeal in fighting for democracy is praiseworthy specially so far from home but you are not being practical. Nepal is an ailing state. It is seriously lacking in leadership. Before the Feb 1 move, the country was heading towards a downwards spiral as we all know and now there is some kind of progress that is evident in some kind of stability which is increasing more and more.

I know you are going to say that only Kathmandu is fine but the rest of the country is not since it's controlled by the Maoists. Are you saying that after the king leaves his power and the democratic government takes over the Maoists are going to hand over thier conquests in a silver platter just because now it's the democratic government? Dream on. That is never going to happen. Just like King and Maoists are separate, the Democratic movement and Maoist movements are mutually exclusive.

If you think that as soon as there is democracy, the maoist problem is gonna go away, it's time for you to wake up and be practical.

You are hopeful but hope is one thing and reality is another. Your democracy is NOT going to be better than the King's current move. Your democracy is going to KILL more people because you try to show a hope for a utopia that is never going to exist. What you are all rallying for is to make Nepal a battleground where peace will NEVER exist.

You are all in relishing in your american lifestyles asking the US and other donors to stop the aid that is badly needed by our countrymen. Your think people who don't appreciate the value of democracy are stupid, but I think people who are engulfed in thier imaginary utopian government for Nepal without a pinch of vision of reality are suffereing from displaced nationalism. Yes you love your country but your peripheral visions have been blinded by your hopes of utopia that will never happen.

Right now the best bet is to let the King do his thing for the 3 years that he asked for. Hopefully by the end of three years there will be a change in the faces of politicians that we see. We're tired of the same old politicians. We definitely need some new faces with forward thinking ability. From reading and communicating with people in nepal, it seems like the king is doing a good job so he deserves a chance. Looks like a big percentage of the people are happy with the way things are than they were before.

Seeing the ralleys and agitations it paints a different picture because the low percentage of people who are unhappy with the way things are unfortunately make the LOUDEST noise. And educated people like us should ignore these few people and try to be more practical and try to help build our nation instead of constanty trying to stop any kind of development because the politicians want to desperately come into power and make Nepal the worst place on earth.

Just imagine the state of Nepal when the King Steps down. What do you see then?

Damn Saroj, I don't care what everybody say about you but you are alright man. I am telling you, these people are power and money hungry bastards who hope to get attention from these leaders in Nepal by showing their support the hoping to go back to Nepal some day then get some kind of position then......do I need to say more??? For them, its like "Oppurtunity doesn't knock twice baby". The same way maoists started their brutal killings and spreaded through the rural areas in Nepal, the peace process will start from kathmandu then will spread through the country. These people should call David Copperfield and have him bring peace with his magic cause they want this overnight (ship with Fed-Ex maybe?), full of shit. What crack me up is their sugar coated writing then they expect you to believe them, they can kiss my black A55.

Saroj bro,
You speak like Tanka Dhakal. KG's spokesman.
I have read your comments in sajha many times. You never discuss on other subjects. But when there comes a chance to protect the dictator and loathe the politicians, you never stop to write the same old stuffs. Can you remind us anything you have discussed about except protecting king G?
You loathe the politicians. I have no problems with that, the corrupts deserve bashing.

But have you ever commented about the fleets of BMW and Mercedes and the new Rolls Royce that have been coming in Narayanhiti palace every year? Do you know that every piece of gold embroideried sari that our Queen wears come from Hongkong - costs thousands of dollars each? Do you know that a single nights wine and dine inside the royal palace costs tens of thousands of rupees? Do you know the helicopter flights of royals to mountain resorts and temples every month costs tens of thousands of rupees. You'd say he is a businessman- owns Surya tobacco, Soaltee Plaza, Sipradi Trading , tea states- can lavish a millionaires life. Fine so he is a businessman, than why is he doing politics with us?

You are blindfolded. You are a slave. So you can't see anything wrong about the king. We are not seeking the reinstatement of corrupt politicians in power. We are demanding the rights of speech, rights to be informed, rights to travel where we want to. Thats what we are longing for. We are demanding for letting the maoists the oppurtunity to lay down their arms. Let him agree that he will be bound by the constitution just like an ordinary Nepali. Let him agree to give public the chance to write their constitution themselves. We don't want him to flee away from Nepal now. Do you think he will flee away without the people forcing him to do so? Hey, you blind man- how do you make assumptions? Whats wrong if King calls the maoists to lay their arms in return for a constituent assembly? Whats wrong if the King selects 15 good politicians from all parties and give them a mandate to have dialogue with the rebels. Why do thousands of people have to die because King Gyanendra doesn't want to be a constitutional monarch like Queen Elizabeth. Why don't you ponder in this part of the argument man. What makes you blind? Are you Tanka Dhakal?

Newuser you sound like Gyanendra's illegitimate child.

You don't like King G. I get that. But you have expectations from him. You want him to do this and that. Why should he do this and that? If you want him to initiate things for the country, then you do believe he is a leader.

You either don't want him or want him. You can't want him to do certain things and not others. You have to accept him as a whole package.

Your mind is closed by the textbooks on democracy you've read. In politics you have to choose the better of the worst. Your democracy is only feasible in theory, but past has taught us that there are no leaders to make any positive changes happen in Nepal. In order to maintain any sanity and peace, King G is the only solution for now.

I think it is sly and cunning of priviledged people like you living in the US in luxury trying to decide what is good for Nepal. If you really have an issue go to Nepal and try to change it. Don't be a coward there hiding under Laura bush's skirt trying to force your views upon policy makers here to stop the needy people from Nepal from the AID they receive. While your imaginary utopian Nepal cannot exist inspite of your rallys and what not, you're only making it worse for the people living in Nepal - while you are enjoying living safely in the US.

Are you Gyanendra's illegitimate child?

Poonte, new_user, and Palpali_Gaule,

What are you talking about? Just support the King, will ya? I mean, look at Narayanhity, look at Simha Durbar, look at Maharajgunj -- there is so much more security now! All the political activists who are under arrest were the ones who were creating unrest in our "country" (within quotes because our country is Kathmandu). Democracy? What are you you talking about? Don't you see "elected" regional and panch-like zonal administrators? Don't you see janta-kaa chhora becoming ambassadors to so many countries? Before I forget, how can anyone be in a foreign land and act "against" the interest of the Nepalese in Nepal? You know only a few of us can say from a distant land that "there is some kind of progress that is evident in some kind of stability which is increasing more and more" (Saroj, 2005). Common, I am the only durdarsi here. I took some econ in high school, so I know there are huge economic benefits when you supress the media; I read some human right stuff, so I know stopping intellectuals from travelling to India is not a violation of human rights. Why don't you just stop this rally crap and start worshing great great maharaja?

:)

Saroj, the mouth piece of the dictator and his cronies, you are full of hatred against us, aren't you?
Where are the answers of questions I raised? The lavishes and luxuries in the palace for the cost of Nepalese people's hard earned money. You don't see them coz you are blind.Don't say that your eyes are all right now.
You are a slave. A loyal slave of KG. So you don't have the decency to respect the idea of everybody uniting together. 'You have to accept him as a whole package' re. waaahh. SO who is the illegitimite child of KG? You or me? Why the f*ck should people want him as a whole package? Whatever the king does is right, all others are shit haina ta. Your idea sucks man. Utopia, Utopia, Utopia. Define me what utopia is, if you have any indepth knowledge about the word.
Take my comments as the warning against your king. Many people have been generous to let him stay as a constitutional monarch. But it is getting late for him to decide-whether to remain as a King or flee away from the country. Did Saddam Hussein and his cronies ever thought he would be toppled one day? Have you taken note of the bloodless regime change in Phillipines, Ivorycoast, Georgia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan in recent years? Have you heard about the downfall of dozens of monarchy and dictators in the recent decades?
When it's toppled, it's gone man. If you have the mercy for your lord, suggest him some better things. The spillage of hatred against us won't help your cause buttercup.

Quite being sarcastic M.P. There is a rumor in Nepal that this rally is organized by nepali congress people living in America. Educated fools like Nepe, newuser prefers to be sujata and Girija's slave then there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Lot of you people raised a question about how only kathmandu and few other towns have good security and rest of the Nepal..all those villages don't. But how can a government provide a security when it is not even under control of the government. Maoists are the gods in those villages. Our previous governments didn't do enough to stop the Maoist from taking over the 1/3 of the country. How can govt provide freaking security there? I am a witness and all the places where government has control over have become much safer place to live in. Nepalese people have finally started paying taxes. Government offices actually operates from 9 to 5pm. They get their job faster and have become so efficient. I was surprised how a work that normally used to take weeks to process at foreign ministry in the past took me a day. And You guys want to protest that just because y'all personally don't like G, then I don't blame him for stopping people like you from flying abroad.
And top of all that, we are the one who have to put up with all this. You people don't even f**king live here. And we over here have no problem compromising and sacrificing little bit of our freedom for a little while if that makes our country better place, how does that bother you? Nepali living in Nepal doesn?t want you suckers to play with our future based on your personal beliefs. One of the causes for Nepal being where it is, is people like you who brought wrong person in a wrong position and when things went wrong you people just left never to comeback. Now we are the one who has to suffer every day of our lives. THings are little better now..and we feel little more safer to live here..and now you suckers want to f**k that up again from there.... You might think you are trying to do good for the country and people..but the fact is, you all are still being played by your netas all the way from Nepal. FOOLS

Have you guys heard of Necessary Evil? King G is a necessarry evil for Nepal. I understand that it is difficult for most people to fathom that.

As newuser will recall I know how the royal family is taking advantage of Nepal. Visit http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=20819
I am not a one track mind like you guys. You need to broaden your horizons a little bit and become more practical instead of parroting the same imaginary political and social state. More than anything Nepal needs a leader and unfortunately there are no leaders with a broader reach besides the King,

All you supporters of democracy are not wrong in your cause but only fail to be practical about it. Democracy is just not practical in Nepal. It's not going to happen. Nepali society is not democratizable at this time. They are not educated enough to know what democracy means. Lot of politicians don't give an "N" about Nepal they are all submerged in their own selfish needs.

If your so called democracy come, who's going to be the rulers? The same old politicians who have failed so miserably time and again. The same old politicians who have amassed millions of dollars. How come you don't talk about the millions of dollars worth of corruptions by your democratic leaders?

I have answered your question about the lavishes and luxuries of the King. I know it's not right and I hope it is stopped slowly but as I said - right now it is a necessary evil and you might as well support it rather than inciting people to fight for something that may never happen. You are perched in the US inciting people of Nepal to fight against the King who is finally trying to do something positive. If your words get heard many people will die for nothing because the King is the all powerful and noone can stop him. You are a coward. If you are truthful about your belief then go to Nepal and try to make a change. Don't be hiding under George Bush's boxers and shouting gyane chor desh chor.

Why don't you answer couple of the questions I have raised?

1. If your so called democracy comes in Nepal, do you think your Democracy is suddenly going to come and everything will be sunny and nice? Ok, I know what you're going to say. You're going to say it's going to take time. Ok, how long? 20 years? 40 years? 100 years? Are you sure it's going to make Nepal better than it is now?

2. You are all concerned about how King and his family are above the law and how they are taking advantage of their position. Do you think that as soon as your so called democracy comes there won't be any politicians that will take advantage their position?

3. I know you are going to say that only Kathmandu is fine but the rest of the country is not since it's controlled by the Maoists. Are you saying that after the king leaves his power and the democratic government takes over the Maoists are going to hand over thier conquests in a silver platter just because now it's the democratic government?

4. Let's say the King decides to heed your calls and steps out saying that he is done with it and doesn't want anything to do with politics. What do you think is going to happen next in Nepal?

Please don't go parroting about your democracy and answer my simple questions. I think we can debate about this kind of things peacefully and in a mature way without accusing each other of being X or Y or namecalling.

Username bro,
with due sympathy for your faith on the king, enjoy the good security your Lord has provided you.We can figure out whether you live in Kathmandu or not by the time of your posting unless you are not a night shift staff of Gorkhapatra/Rising Nepal.
And don't pretend of being an ordinary Nepali .
Be happy for yourself being a learned man, why do you waste your time by arguing with fools mate?
For the rest of the things you wrote, let me ignore a person of your mindset.

saroj....hahahha there's a fine line between neccessary evil and the real devil:

MY QUES: DO YOU SEE ANY DIFFERENCE OF POLITICKING BETWEEN THE GREAT GRANDSON GYANE AND HIS MATERNAL GREAT GREAT GRAND POP JUNG BAHADUR RANA>>>

saroj, now lets see if ican answer all your ques:
answer 1. For russia it took over 1000 years and it was worth it. For France couple of 100s after mary antonnaite resembled our 'inoccent viper' himani. India 500, cuba som decades: in the end it was worth it.For nepal, a full democracy to bloom would take as much time it should: anywhere from 40-60 with the help of rest of the world.Equal opportunity will make best out of those in nepal who work persistently, not who gets supplies to and fro royal palace..so sorry it'll be the guy sweeping the streets or driving taxis who will benefit more than your royal ass..but then thats a small price to pay for a democratic nation.Evrybody gets to make their own nation.
2.My ques here is why feed the same old pig? ONE vs. many...at least many of them will benefit from the same plate and reminder: that plate is open for you as well...if you're smarft enuf to stand on your toes you will get a piece. Corruption under democracy, people will have the right to let them be corrupt or dismantle them instantly. Corruption under neo nazi gyane..you keep your mouth shut even while the Royal corruption Comitte instead of pouring the people's money back to development, takes it back to gyane..you make him a fatter pig: My ques: why even bother with such dramas??
3.Hey good to know thatyou know there's a problem. well in a democracry its our reponsibility to solve it. What do the maoist want: belive me they are not rakshyas that they wan t your blood..have you checkedc out he places where they are most situated? those dotted place takes at leastes 14 hours by bus and avg of 3 days walk. now i ask again how would you make them happy?? with our dismantled head.?? Nope. A road, A means of living, food and shelter and schools to better their lives and work opportunities to take them where they belong. IN MY DEmocracy i see taxing everything every inch of kathmanduits.. and pouring that into development/ maosit .
4.He steps down and i'm going to be the the misnister of all round development: thats my responsibiltiy. And if you need more i will appoint you as the principal/minister to solve maoist ...problems.so you can actually be the first minister to go naked on a field of maoist and read the following letter:
Hey maoist, I granted by minister hp, would wear a single piece of cloth on my body unless each of you has enuf, will eat a single grain unless each of you are not hungry. will walk without shoes unless there's a road for you and will live under this barren peeple treee until you have some roof over your head.Minister puppy is evacuating Soaltee, Hyatt, and all other hotels in KTM so your komal feet and stride there and reside there.temporraily..until the evacuation of royal palaces around the country for more promiment residence..until all of you reach there i will guard the jungles and the ghosts for you.
..PS> THIS IS NOT A JOKE AND SHUD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY>
Hey saroj how big are your balls??
