With MS in Civil Engineering and 10-12 dollar hourly job, in opt in this economy and looking at the dismal job prospects here, it looks too theoritical to make a living in US. Very few company sponsor H1 and eventhough they sponsor most of them make the employee pay the cost. The journey to the greeen card looks neverending.

Could anyone suggest if it is better to stay here and wait or start processing for canada or australian PR.

Without empty pockets, without insurance, without good job, and with dismal job prospects is it wise to stay here hoping it will improve??

As u already mentioned that the journey to green card is never ending? Its also depends on you too. If you are dreamer of US green card holder never give up. Otherwise there are lots of option for you. It seems like you just need the consolation not suggestion because you already know the material fact. Its going to be more worse. I don't mean to scare you. God has given you such brilliant mind that you can judge the fact.

Whereas I know we scare, feel uncomfortable, little bit to move in new environment.

Whats ur potential staying in US? dreaming of us economy getting better? But when?  If I were in ur shoe I would certainly try canada/ australia and anywhere else where there is good opportunities to use ur qualification. You are qualified for the better opportunity than staying in us with hope of getting its economy better. Utilize your degree. If I were you I would rather try different way than staying in us streesful life.

If u get Australian PR You don't have to worry about being out of status over here in US- the best thing being a educated person.
Secondly If u Get PR you will have more opportunity there than staying here as F1 and waiting for your green card. Comparatively you will be better once you get PR in other conutry than staying in US.

Try your luck

Good luck bro.

Thank you Kalopani and Gorkhali Keto. For sure I am going to start research in aus/can immigration. Input from someone in Australia in Civil Engineering Profession will make things more clear. If someone in there is thinking about opportunities in USA it doesn't look good at this moment.

I have a question,
upon graduating from US, how do u process for Australia? Do you find a job first and than apply for a visa?
Do you do ur processing from Nepal or from US?
Do u need IELTS? Is there a way to find a job in Australia from US?
Is work experience needed?
anyone with some insight.
valuable informations please

You can process it either from here or nepal.you don't need a job if you meet the required points. Work experience is needed for independent skilled visa. And you do need ielts.

Hi nepalionline, first thing for you to do is, get your qualification accredited from Engineers Australia, ( www.engineersaustralia.org.au ) once u got positive assessment, you process your application. details here;
  http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/visa-options-outside.htm

For people looking for job this is aus's number 1.
  www.seek.com.au

( but companies don't sponsor while you are still oversea, so you must have PR or some sort of work visa)).

Hope that helps.

first you get your skills assesment from Engineers Australia( it means they give you certificate that you are a civil engineer comparable to australian standards).Engineers Australia also require your  IELTS before they  can process  your applicaton.

Then apply the migration process itself.Migration process is changing from next year. You will have to find a sponser either from employer or State government. Its easy to get state government sponsorship for civil engineer as there is a shortage of civil engineers in Australia.
There are more than 2000( my guess) nepalse civil engineers and most of thek working for govenment agencies.

Starting stalary for civil engineers is about 70,000 .
