hey guys, I have a question. Is here anybody who know somebody who is deported at the port of entry coming back from nepal for the case of illegal working during the summer? Do the authority in the port of entry look into our academic results and history stored in their database (of course saved in the SSN)? If they look into our history obviously it shows our working info too ( in summer) which of course is illegal. Guys please enlighten me!! I am naive in this matter.

junge it is legitimate question. Don't be scared though. Be prepared for what you are up to. I know one dude who is deported from MSP recently (100% sure). Not sure what was the reason though. I haven't got enough information about him yet. He has not contacted to anybody or talked to anybody yet.He might still be in shock state.

hey kalovale..
i have been working using my SSN from the time i came over here in US.. after 1.5 yrs i went Nepal taking the semester break.. for three mths for dashain and tihar.. i enjoyed a lot in nepal.. there won't be any problem in the port until and unless you have the proper documentation.. in my case.. i had just had my I-20.. but to be sure i had my bank statment incase needed.. tara check chahi garenah.. they just asked us.. we were three people .. my roommates.. taking all the semester break.. the immigration officer just asked us why we were in Nepal.. and why.. name of the college and he asked whether we all are from the same school.. and he didn't ask any further question after that.. we told them that we were outside to celebrate our festival.. but make sure you take the I-20 for the college where you currently study.. don't change the college or take the I-20 where you are gonna transfer when you go to Nepal.. specially if you are taking the semester break and going back to Nepal.. ...that's all i have to say.. timro kaam gareko status le immigration ma kehi farak pardaina.. but be sure that you have atleast 6 mths ko valid VISA when you travel.. my advisor told me that even if you have 2 days left VISA for entry they can;'t reject you for the entry.. but to be sure have 6 mths of valide VISA..
hope this helps..

and one thing i didn't realize.. in your posting that you will be there in Nepal for like 2 mths only rahecha.. according to my adviors in skool.. if you take the semester break.. you have to leave before 1 mth and not after 1 mths.. if you leave after 1 mths.. then you will be out of status.. and it will go in your record.. and immigration will check mark on your status as out of status.. you have taken the semester break.. and you are not allowed to enter the country before a mth starting the semester you are coming back.. but depends on your classes starting in summer.. make sure and also visit your advisor about that.. calculate your class starting time.. in summer.. and make the date of arrival in US not before 1 mth of class starting in summer.. but visit your advisor.. i did all the above mentioned things while taking the semester break.. but your case is same but lil bit different as you are coming back in summer and you can also take 6 credit hrs in summer..
hope it might help lil bit taking the decision..

don't worry if you have not been caught at working.
If you are not caught, they don't know you worked!!!
you shouldn't have problem at port of entry just because you worked in summer job using your SSN unless... you use your old paystubs to show your source of income to support your study. I don't think you are that dumb as you're already enrolled in a reputed US college.

Your work information is not stored in SEVIS system. Since the officers at the POE can only spend 90 seconds with an individual they do not have time to look into other records nor do they have access to it. The only thing they need is you current I-20 endorsed for travel, valid passport/visa and proof that you have been maintaining your status. It is advisable to take your current transcript and a letter from your school but rarely would they ask to see those. Only if they have any doubts based on what you say or on the documents you provide then you will be directed to the secondary inspection for further questions. But work along does not pull the triggers for further questioning.
Good Luck!
