Hey San,

Is it possible to add two more groups where we can post messages to? How about one on History/Culture and the other one on, Current Affairs? You already have Politics, but Politics is too broad, and quite confusing.

Just a suggestion.

San bro -

If I may piggy-back off Isolated Freak's suggestion, may I motion that something be done to raise awareness about correctly tagging posts? There are posts in some sections that don't belong there. One suggestion would be for you to re-tag the content and send a notification to the thread owner about the change so that they are aware of which group similar posts should be in going forward.

Just a thought.

All for the love of Sajha ... re kya

Hey Isolated Freak -

Looks like your wish was granted - there is a current affairs section now With one minor issue: there's no content in it! he he. Hope you'll contribute and add to it now that it's out there. I'll put some stuff out as well.

Have a good weekend if I dont talk to you today.

Best wishes.

San bro, as always, you rock!

admin,

nobody's goin to listen, esp Nepali paying attention is unheard of. Isn't there a way to filter the title before they submit and look for key words and automatically dump them into right section, like if the're a word like "Maoist, UML, KING" on the title, it should be forced  (no matter where they think they're posting) to go under Politics section. Filtering just the title.I'm guessing there has to be a way.

my 2 cents.

San bro -

It's great to see so many sections coming up - thanks. I will do my level best, and hope everyone else will, to contribute wherever it makes sense to :). Just when I thought I would cut back on Sajha, you are making it harder and harder for me to do so ...LOL!!

May I suggest, as a next step, that we issue some guidelines on what type of content should be going into each section? I am still debating whether US presidential elections should go into "Politics" or "Current Affairs" in the absence of guidelines. This might be case where a post overlaps two sections, but I think it would help if we could come up with a rough set of guidelines  to avoid confusion.

Also, if I may, I'd recommend looking at sites like the NYT,WSJ and IHT for some ideas around how content
is organized. Obviously we cant mirror their structure here, and neither should we because we are a different kind of site, but because they have been at it for a long time and have probably hashed out content classification issues in the process, we might be able to reap the benefits of their homework

Just some thoughts.

Have a good weekend and as always thanks for the great work you do.

Thanks much to San for adding a new section/category, and Kaptan saab for his support.

"May I suggest, as a next step, that we issue some guidelines on what type of content should be going into each section? Current affairs section should have articles that deal with what's happening now. So a piece on US elections belongs there. For example, if we are to post something on Darfur and Davos we can post it there. But if we are posting a piece on why Panchayat was good or why September 11 happened or what happened during the Regan Presidency, it can go on the Politics section. This is how I would go about it.

But let's make sure that we only post articles that are less technical and easily understandable to all. Those difficult to understand, technical, theoratical etc. can go to Politics. This is, of course, my personal view.

IF Well, thanks for clarifying - makes sense. I think I've posted correctly in that case. Another question: what't the tought on having history and culture in the same place? What if the culture is modern (e.g the latest social trend in NY) ? Whadya think? :)

Yes, Kapttan Saab.. I was thinking the same.

I think, and again this is my personal opinion, it should be Arts/Culture, and a seperate section for history. For example, a piece on Shanghai's dance culture, or France's wine culture or on Pueblo's marriage or posts  on Van Gaugh, Rembrandt, Music, movies can go to Arts/culture section, and posts on pure history, for example, Indus Valley, Chinese, Mayan, Incan civilizations can go on history. That's how I feel.

Hey San.. Whats happening?

I wanted to ask you a real quick question and was wondering if you could help me!! When I try to log out of sajha, I cant! When I click "log out", it still keeps me logged on. Even though I try to log out numerous times, it still keeps me logged on no matter what. (I know sajha loves me, but come on! keeping me here against my will is not the solution :p). Though I come to sajha from my PC, I would prefer to be logged off if someone else wants to use the comp. Is there anyway you can have a look at this problem? Sometimes I totally lose my patience and I am scared that I might kill my poor laptop! LOL Thanks :)

Isolated freak thanks for the suggestions. Hope all is well with you.
Captain I think the guidelines IF has put forth makes sense.
Bob Marley, auto filtering may be an option in the future.
Rythm, as captain haddock once put it, it's like the song hotel california.. you can check out any time you like but you can never leave . Actually your browser may be overflooded with lot of temporary internet files and cookies, so you might want to clean up those through Tools - Internet Option.
Maddog I have put the old style and new style back, and it should retain even after you close your browser if cookies are enabled.

Hey San

All's well here. I hope all's well with you too.

Here's a problem (again):

Is it possible to reprogram the  Sajha-auto censor or whatever it is called? Its impossible to post anything on Russia/Russian President and Japan/Japanese Primeminister because of the censor. Maybe there can be a minor adjustment to suit the needs of those who use this section. How can we discuss current afairs if two major players Japan and Russia are left out?
