hi, I am a Nepali student in Korea. I had applied for Canadian immigration 5 months back with all documents and fees. However, I have not yet recieved any letter regarding the assignment of case file number or rejection. I am worried as the web site says that an applicant will recieve an acknowledgemant letter with in a month. Can any one tell me .......how long it will take to get a file number or a rejection letter?

If the application is complete, getting an acceptance or a rejection letter is the second step. First, you will receive the file number with which you can track the progress of the application. While applying, did you use a reliable mailing service with a tracking number (to ensure, if they received your application or not)? You can send them a fax stating that you haven't heard from them. I don't know the current processing time, but back then (around four years ago) you would get a file number anytime between 4 to 9 months. All the best.

The embassy has recieved the application ( That information was provided by the post office upon my inquiry). The matter is that the embassey has not yet said that it has recieved the application or assigned a case file nmber. If it takes 9 months then ok ......otherwise it has been 5 months and ......

Don't know about korea, but in US, AFTER the application is complete, it just takes about a month to get the application number.
